Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.Today, Congressman Billy Long voted against a long-term continuing resolution that would cut between $352 million and $45 billion, depending on whom you believe.

Over 50 days ago, Representative Long voted in favor of HR.1, a resolution that would have cut $61 billion from last year’s spending levels. Today’s vote was on a compromise resolution between President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Reid, and House Speaker Boehner.

“Families in southwest Missouri cannot spend 42% more than they take in and neither should the federal government,” said Long.

Congressman Long made reducing Federal spending one of his top priorities when he came to Washington.
