Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Rep. Billy Long encourages constituents to visit his website and click on the live Keystone pipeline clock, which provides information on the Keystone pipeline.

It has been over 1,600 days since the application to build the pipeline was submitted to the State Department.

“We must reduce our reliance on oil from the Middle East.  It is important that we take steps immediately to diversify our sources of energy, become less dependent on hostile regimes, and create thousands of jobs,” Long said.  “The Keystone pipeline will support middle class jobs and energy independence.”

Long believes it is time to build the pipeline.  There is bipartisan support in the House and Senate for the Keystone pipeline.  Estimates indicate that the Keystone pipeline would create over 20,000 direct jobs and as many as 100,000 indirect jobs.
