Representative Long Sworn into 112th Congress
WASHINGTON, DC.–Today, former auctioneer and small business owner Billy Long of Springfield, Missouri was sworn in as the new Congressman for Missouri’s 7th District. House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio swore in Congressman Long marking the beginning of the 112th Congress.
“It is an honor to be serving the friends, neighbors, families, and businesses of the 7th District in our nation’s capital,” said Congressman Long. “For too long our government was not listening to the will of the people. I have taken the message of smaller government, common sense fiscal policy, and more government accountability with me as I fight for our values in Washington.”
As a successful businessman, Congressman Long understands the consequences of overreaching and invasive governmental policies imposed on Main Street America. Long, a fourth generation Missourian, has chosen to serve the people of the seventh district as a small businessman and family man from the heartland rather than a career politician. Congressman Long has vowed to fight government run heathcare, end wasteful earmarks, support socially conservative issues, and protect individual rights.
Congressman Long follows Senator Blunt in serving the people of the 7th District.
