In recognition of his commitment to protect small businesses, U.S. Rep. Billy Long received the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business Award.
“I am honored to be given the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award,” Long said. “Before becoming a Congressman, I was a small business owner. With that background, I have a better understanding of the hardships small businesses go through when people out in Washington overregulate. It not only harms growth, but it stifles innovation. It has been my goal from day one, and continues to be my goal, to make sure that small businesses continue to be the crux of our nation’s economy.”
The NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award is given to members of the House and the Senate who have scored 70 percent or higher on votes affecting small businesses during the 114th Congress.
NIFB was founded in 1943 for the purpose of advocating for small business owners.
