SPRINGFIELD –After U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) officials announced their agreement to meet with Mount Vernon leaders over possible plans to save the Gene Taylor Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) today, Rep. Billy Long (MO-7) welcomed the reversal of position with the following statement:

“I’m thankful that VA officials have agreed to this meeting and hope that it will bring more transparency than the agency has previously shown,” said Rep. Long.  “It should have never needed my involvement for Mount Vernon leaders to receive the consideration they deserve. However, this is welcome news for area veterans and I stand ready to continue ensuring all federal agencies are responsive to the citizens they serve.”
