Katelyn Clark from Southwest City, MO, is this year’s winner in Missouri’s 7^th District Congressional Art Competition. 

     Katelyn Clark’s winning selection is her pencil drawing entitled My Sanity.  Katelyn’s work will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol with other winning pieces from across the nation.  She will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C., to unveil the winning artwork. Katelyn attends McDonald County High School in Anderson. 

     “Thank you to all the students who participated in this year’s competition.  I continue to be impressed by the quality of work produced by students in our district.  I am excited to see Katelyn’s beautiful drawing displayed in the corridors of the U.S. Capitol,” Long said. 

     Kelsey Thornton from McDonald County High School in Anderson is this year’s 2^nd place winner with her pencil drawing entitled Family Farmhouse.  Nicolas Henderson from Strafford High School in Strafford is this year’s 3^rd place winner with his pen drawing entitled Creekside Village.  The People’s Choice winner, voted by students and constituents on Long’s Facebook page, is Katelyn Clark’s 1^st place winning pencil drawing entitled My Sanity.  The 2^nd place and 3^rd place winners will be invited to display their work in one of Long’s district offices. 

     The Congressional Art Competition allows members of Congress to inspire and appreciate the artistic talents of emerging artists in their congressional districts. The winning piece for Missouri’s 7^th District was selected by professional artists.  This year’s judges were Dr. Rebecca Burrell from Drury University, Leslie Forrester, executive director of Springfield Regional Arts Council and Bonnie Herrmann, executive director of Branson Arts Council.
