Long awarded the Friend of Farm Bureau award
Springfield, MO, October 28, 2016
In honor of his dedication to farmers and the agricultural community, U.S. Rep. Long was awarded the Friend of Farm Bureau award Thursday.
“I am honored to have received this award from the Missouri Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation,” Long said. “I have traveled all across Missouri’s 7th District and I continue to see the positive impact that farmers have on Missouri’s economy. As a Congressman I try to do all that I can to make sure that farmers can still do their job by eliminating bureaucratic red tape.”
The Friend of Farm Bureau award is given to Congressmen and Congresswomen who support legislation that is important to farmers and the agricultural community.
According to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, as of 2014, agribusiness had a $24.8 billion impact on Missouri’s economy. That represented 8.9 percent of Missouri’s gross domestic product.
