Congressman Long Hosts Annual Fishing Dreams Event for Veterans
Washington, November 10, 2021
“It has always been one of my greatest honors as a Congressman, to celebrate and thank our nation’s veterans,” Congressman Long said.“These brave men and women left their homes and families to fight for our country. It is because of their sacrifices that the American people live in the freest country in the world. Sadly, many of these heroes were wounded in the fight for freedom, and they carry these scars with them today. That is why I love hosting the Fishing Dreams Event for Veterans which is a collaboration with Bass Pro Shops along with Diversified Freedom for Disabilities and Fish Tales. Every year we go out on the lake and fish with disabled veterans. This year set a record as we took 112 Veterans including two 100 year old Vets fishing with professional guides on Lake Taneycomo in Branson, Missouri. We can never thank these veterans enough for their bravery, but we can do our best to honor their sacrifices.”
This year, more than 100 veterans attended Fishing Dreams for Veterans. The event took place on Lake Taneycomo, and was followed by a luncheon at Big Cedar Lodge. At lunch, Congressman Long presented each veteran with an American Flag, flown over the United States Capitol Building.
